Why This Role Matters

In an era where viewers expect instant access to high‑definition content on any device, the backbone of our service is a sophisticated, resilient, and highly scalable Content Delivery Network (CDN). As a Content Distribution Engineer, you will be at the heart of this infrastructure, designing, implementing, and optimizing CDN solutions that power arenaflex’s streaming platforms, live sports broadcasts, and on‑demand services. Your work will directly impact the performance and reliability of the experiences enjoyed by millions of users across the globe.

  • Performance Monitoring & Optimization: Continuously analyze performance metrics, conduct root‑cause analysis, and collaborate with engineering teams to drive improvements.
  • Collaboration with ISP Partners: Manage relationships with Internet Service Providers (ISPs) worldwide, coordinating OpenCache deployments and troubleshooting network‑level issues.
  • Tooling & Automation: Contribute to the development of internal tooling that integrates third‑party CDN services into a unified control plane, enhancing operational efficiency.
  • Incident Management: Provide Level‑3 support for critical incidents, leading rapid response, escalation, and post‑mortem processes.
  • Cross‑Functional Projects: Partner with product, security, and reliability teams to address capacity planning, security hardening, and feature rollout challenges.
  • Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Maintain comprehensive documentation, runbooks, and best‑practice guides for CDN architecture and operational procedures.

Essential Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years managing storage and distribution solutions, preferably within a Content Distribution Organization environment.
  • CDN Expertise: Hands‑on experience with CDN provider architectures, edge services, and traffic routing mechanisms.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in HTTP/DNS, caching mechanisms, web servers (NGINX, HAProxy), and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP).
  • Programming & Automation: Strong scripting abilities in Python or similar languages; familiarity with configuration management tools such as Ansible or AWX.
  • Security Knowledge: Understanding of SSL/TLS certificates, encryption standards, and secure content delivery practices.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Problem‑Solving Mindset: Demonstrated enthusiasm for troubleshooting, root‑cause analysis, and continuous learning.

Preferred Qualifications & Additional Skills

  • Experience with large‑scale streaming platforms and media processing pipelines.
  • Knowledge of container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker) and microservices architecture.
  • Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or Datadog.
  • Background in network engineering, including BGP, routing, and peering strategies.
  • Previous involvement in on‑call rotations and incident response for high‑traffic services.
  • Certifications related to cloud platforms (AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Google Cloud Professional Engineer).

Core Competencies for Success

  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to anticipate future capacity needs and design scalable solutions that align with arenaflex’s long‑term vision.
  • Collaboration: Strong team player who thrives in cross‑functional environments, building trust with product, security, and operations teams.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, ever‑changing media landscape, quickly adapting to new technologies and business priorities.
  • Customer‑Centric Focus: Commitment to delivering a flawless end‑user experience, understanding the impact of latency and reliability on viewer satisfaction.
