As part of arenaflex’s mission to create unforgettable viewing experiences, the Customer Service organization plays a critical role in listening to members, resolving issues quickly, and turning feedback into actionable product improvements.

Why This Role Matters

In the fast‑moving world of digital entertainment, the ability to understand and act on member feedback is a competitive advantage. The Data Engineer – Customer Service position sits at the intersection of data, technology, and business insight. You will partner with data engineers, software engineers, and business owners to design, build, and maintain robust data pipelines that transform raw interaction logs into reliable, business‑critical metrics. Your work will directly influence how arenaflex measures the effectiveness of its support channels, optimizes resource allocation, and personalizes the member experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain high‑performance data pipelines using big‑data technologies such as Hive, Presto, Spark, and Flink to ingest and process tens of millions of records daily.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams—including data scientists, analysts, software engineers, and Customer Service product owners—to translate business requirements into scalable data solutions.
  • Implement robust data modeling practices that accommodate evolving source schemas and changing business processes, ensuring long‑term adaptability.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and well‑documented code in Python or Scala, adhering to arenaflex’s engineering standards and best practices.
  • Develop and enforce data quality frameworks, including automated testing, validation, and monitoring, to guarantee the integrity of downstream metrics.
  • Create and maintain custom visualization tools and dashboards that surface actionable insights for Customer Service leadership and frontline agents.
  • Lead the end‑to‑end lifecycle of data products—from ingestion and transformation to exposure via APIs or analytical platforms—while ensuring performance, reliability, and security.
  • Mentor junior engineers, share knowledge across the team, and champion a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to optimize existing pipelines, reduce latency, and lower operational costs through innovative engineering solutions.

Essential Qualifications

  • Minimum of 4 years of hands‑on experience building and operating data pipelines at scale using big‑data ecosystems (Hive, Presto, Spark, Flink, or comparable technologies).
  • Demonstrated expertise in data modeling, with a track record of designing flexible schemas that support evolving business needs.
  • Strong proficiency in Python or Scala, with a passion for writing clean, testable, and production‑ready code.
  • Advanced SQL skills, including complex query optimization, window functions, and data‑quality checks.
  • Proven ability to think analytically about business problems, develop meaningful metrics, and prioritize work autonomously.
  • Excellent communication skills, with experience partnering effectively with analysts, engineers, and senior business stakeholders.
  • Experience working in a remote, distributed team environment and a demonstrated ability to thrive with high autonomy.

Preferred Qualifications & Nice‑to‑Have Skills

  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and modern data warehousing solutions such as Snowflake or Redshift.
  • Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipelines for data engineering workloads.
  • Background in customer‑service analytics, churn prediction, or real‑time monitoring of support interactions.
  • Knowledge of streaming data architectures and tools (Kafka, Kinesis, Pulsar) for near‑real‑time processing.
  • Exposure to machine‑learning pipelines and the ability to collaborate with data scientists on feature engineering.
  • Contributions to open‑source projects or participation in data‑engineering communities.
