With a heritage of more than a century, arenaflex combines cutting‑edge technology, data‑driven insights, and a culture of inclusion to deliver world‑class experiences. As the company continues to expand its digital footprint, the demand for sophisticated data engineering talent has never been higher. This is your opportunity to join a forward‑thinking team that shapes the future of data‑centric products while working from the comfort of your home.

Why This Role Matters

In today’s fast‑moving financial ecosystem, data is the lifeblood of every strategic decision. As a Senior Data Engineer at arenaflex, you will be the architect behind the pipelines, warehouses, and analytics platforms that power critical business insights, fraud detection, customer personalization, and regulatory reporting. Your work will directly influence the reliability, scalability, and security of data that drives revenue, enhances customer satisfaction, and ensures compliance across global markets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain robust data pipelines that ingest, transform, and load (ETL) high‑volume transactional and behavioral data from diverse sources into centralized data lakes and warehouses.
  • Collaborate with data scientists, product managers, and business analysts to translate business requirements into scalable data models and architecture.
  • Implement and optimize both OLTP (Online Transaction Processing) and OLAP (Online Analytical Processing) systems to support real‑time and batch analytics workloads.
  • Lead the migration of legacy data structures to modern, cloud‑native schemas, ensuring data integrity, lineage, and compliance throughout the process.
  • Apply Agile and DevOps best practices to automate testing, deployment, and monitoring of data pipelines, reducing time‑to‑value and operational risk.
  • Develop and enforce data governance policies, including data quality, security, and privacy standards, in alignment with industry regulations such as GDPR and PCI DSS.
  • Mentor junior engineers, conduct code reviews, and champion a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies (e.g., Apache Spark, Flink, Snowflake, Delta Lake) and evaluate their applicability to enhance arenaflex’s data platform.
  • Provide production support for critical data services, troubleshooting performance bottlenecks, and ensuring high availability (99.9% SLA).
  • Document architectural decisions, data flow diagrams, and operational runbooks to facilitate knowledge sharing across distributed teams.

Essential Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related STEM field.
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of hands‑on experience designing and optimizing relational databases (RDBMS) and at least 2 years supporting OLTP/OLAP environments.
  • Data Modeling: Proven ability to translate business requirements into logical and physical data models, with a focus on normalization, denormalization, and star/snowflake schemas.
  • Big Data Technologies: Experience with MPP (Massively Parallel Processing) platforms and big‑data ecosystems such as Hadoop, Hive, Spark, and Kafka.
  • Programming & Scripting: Proficiency in Python, SQL, PL/SQL, and shell scripting for data manipulation and automation.
  • ETL Tools: Hands‑on experience with ETL frameworks (e.g., Informatica, Talend, Apache NiFi) and data integration patterns.
  • Cloud Platforms: Familiarity with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud services related to data storage and processing (e.g., S3, Redshift, BigQuery).
  • Performance Tuning: Demonstrated expertise in query optimization, indexing strategies, and workload management.
  • Collaboration: Strong communication skills to work effectively with cross‑functional teams, translate technical concepts for non‑technical stakeholders, and drive consensus.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in a quantitative discipline.
  • Certifications such as AWS Certified Data Analytics, Google Professional Data Engineer, or Snowflake SnowPro Core.
  • Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipelines for data engineering workloads.
  • Knowledge of data security frameworks, encryption techniques, and compliance auditing.
  • Exposure to machine learning pipelines and feature engineering for predictive analytics.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Analytical Mindset: Ability to dissect complex data problems, identify root causes, and propose elegant solutions.
  • Problem‑Solving: Proactive troubleshooting, performance debugging, and incident response under pressure.
  • Leadership: Capacity to lead technical discussions, mentor peers, and influence architectural direction.
  • Adaptability: Comfort working in a fast‑paced, remote environment with evolving priorities.
  • Attention to Detail: Rigorous approach to data quality, documentation, and compliance requirements.
  • Collaboration Tools: Proficiency with Git, Jira, Confluence, and communication platforms such as Slack or Teams.
