About the position The Medical Assistant at Evernorth Health Services plays a vital role in supporting healthcare providers by assisting with patient examinations and treatments. This position involves a variety of back-office tasks, including patient check-in, obtaining medical histories, taking vital signs, and administering medications, all while ensuring a high level of customer service and coordination of care. Responsibilities • Greet and check in patients by verifying coverage and eligibility and completing appropriate paperwork. , • Obtain patient history and take vital signs. , • Assist with coordination of care and administer medications. , • Prepare examination rooms and clean/sterilize instruments per protocol. , • Answer telephone calls in compliance with departmental procedures and route calls appropriately. , • Schedule appointments and verify membership according to various benefit coverage. , • Review preprinted instruction sheets with patients. , • Attend department staff meetings and in-service programs. , • Cross-train to new procedures and departments. , • Assist in orienting new employees and temporary staff to job responsibilities. Requirements • Graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program or on-the-job training with the ability to obtain CCMA certification. , • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required. , • At least 1 year of front and back office experience. , • Phlebotomy skills are required. , • Solid computer skills, including experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR). , • Excellent customer service skills are required. , • Team-oriented with strong time management skills. , • Responsible and reliable with the ability to work clinic hours and locations. Nice-to-haves • CMA or RMA Certification. , • Customer-centric focus. , • Dynamic personality.
