How You'll Make An Impact • Underwrites individual insurance applications to cover property and casualty with guidelines set for the issuance of policies on a standard or substandard basis. • Determines whether to accept, modify or decline a risk through evaluation of the property's value, location, usage, and safety features, and other information pertinent to the decision. • Has frequent contact with field to gather information on which to base and defend underwriting decisions. • Works on the renewals process with the team. • Puts together quotes, assists with new business submissions and binds policies. • Does not have any assigned Production goals. • May provide support to Underwriter Senior in servicing and management of accounts. About You Required: Bachelor's degree and 2 years related experience required. Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows applications and Microsoft Office. Preferred: • Experience with specific lines of commercial insurance (e.g., property, general liability, marine, workers' compensation). • Proficiency in underwriting software such as AIM and Image Right and Microsoft Office Suite. Behaviors: • Strong analytical and decision-making skills. • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities. • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
