About the position The Insurance Verification Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring accurate verification and processing of patient insurance information within a healthcare setting. This position is essential for facilitating smooth operations and ensuring compliance with insurance requirements, while also maintaining patient confidentiality according to HIPAA regulations. Responsibilities • Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility prior to appointments or procedures. , • Communicate with insurance companies to obtain necessary authorizations and resolve any discrepancies. , • Review and interpret ICD-9 codes, medical records, and managed care plans to ensure compliance with insurance requirements. , • Maintain accurate records of all verification processes and updates in the office database. , • Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure that all necessary documentation is submitted for claims processing. , • Adhere to HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality during the verification process. Requirements • Proficient understanding of medical terminology and coding practices, including ICD-9. , • Experience with insurance verification processes, particularly in a medical office setting. , • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills. , • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, healthcare providers, and insurance representatives. , • Familiarity with managed care systems. , • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and compliance standards. , • Proficient in using office software and electronic health record (EHR) systems. Nice-to-haves • Ability to relocate to Kissimmee, FL before starting work.
