Position Overview

arenaflex is seeking a dynamic and visionary Director of Data Analytics to join our Store Automation and Innovation team. This senior leadership role is responsible for developing a comprehensive suite of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that measure the effectiveness of our most strategic initiatives. The Director of Data Analytics will define critical metrics, lead the design and development of robust data pipelines and dashboards, and communicate progress toward our organizational goals to executive leadership on a regular cadence.

This position is based in Bentonville, Arkansas, and reports directly to the Senior Vice President of Store Development and Automation. The ideal candidate brings a rare combination of deep technical expertise, strategic thinking, leadership capability, and the communication skills necessary to translate complex data into actionable business insights.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Data Leadership

• Identify and evaluate data sources across the organization, demonstrating expert knowledge of functional business domains, operational scenarios, data categorization, data storage systems, and data quality standards.
• Define and refine critical business metrics that measure the effectiveness of store automation and innovation initiatives across multiple business units.
• Lead the development of end-to-end data pipelines that ensure timely, accurate, and consistent delivery of analytics-ready information to stakeholders at every level of the organization.

Business Analysis and Problem Solving

• Analyze complex business problems within your discipline and challenge existing assumptions to uncover root causes of operational inefficiencies.
• Identify and recommend data-driven approaches to resolve business challenges, establishing clear expectations tied to measurable success criteria and key performance metrics.
• Evaluate proposed business cases for major investments and strategic initiatives, translating business requirements into actionable analytics strategies.
• Align the analytics team with broader business strategies while consistently delivering high-quality insights and recommendations.

Data Visualization and Executive Communication

• Identify and recommend the most appropriate visualization tools based on context, audience, and analytical objectives.
• Define application design principles based on user requirements and business needs.
• Build compelling narratives grounded in data, presenting findings to and influencing diverse audiences including C-suite executives, cross-functional partners, and operational teams.
• Adapt communication style and presentation approach based on stakeholder preferences and decision-making contexts.

Strategic Direction and Planning

• Provide overall direction by analyzing business objectives and customer needs, including the development, communication, and implementation of business strategies, plans, and best practices.
• Analyze costs and forecasts, integrating findings into comprehensive business plans.
• Determine and advocate for resource requirements needed to achieve strategic analytics objectives.

Stakeholder Engagement and Partnership

• Develop and leverage internal and external networks and strategic partnerships to advance analytics capabilities.
• Lead key community outreach and engagement initiatives while maintaining the highest standards of integrity and ethics.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to stakeholders across the organization, providing expert guidance on data-driven decision making.

Essential Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Proficiency in SQL, Python, and big data tools and frameworks such as Hive.
• Proficiency with modern dashboarding and business intelligence tools such as Looker, Tableau, or Power BI.
• Experience with scheduling and workflow orchestration tools such as Airflow.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate the details and implications of metrics clearly to executive leadership and non-technical audiences.
• Proven ability to connect the details of data to their broader impact on business outcomes.
• Experience developing new metrics from scratch to track business impact and operational performance.
• Prior experience leading and managing a team of analysts, with a track record of mentoring and developing talent.
• Exposure to building dashboards and reports that aggregate data from multiple disparate sources.

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in a quantitative discipline.
• Formal education or professional background in statistics or statistical analysis.
