We are looking for a Grant Writer to serve as our organization's storyteller, using stories to access grants, and who must also work as a board member. Grant Writer Job Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented, persuasive storyteller to secure funding for our mission. The Grant Writer will research opportunities, draft compelling proposals, and manage reporting requirements for private foundations, corporate giving programs, and government entities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, research, and vet new institutional grant opportunities.
  • Write, edit, and submit highly clear, compelling grant proposals and letters of intent (LOIs).
  • Collaborate with program staff to gather metrics, stories, and data required for applications.
  • Manage a grant calendar to ensure 100% compliance with strict deadlines.
  • Draft post-award reports to show funders exactly how their investments made an impact.

Board Member Job Summary: We are seeking passionate, strategic leaders to join our Board of Directors. This is a volunteer, governance-level role. Board members provide legal oversight, strategic direction, and financial stewardship to ensure our nonprofit effectively achieves its mission while remaining sustainable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Governance: Attend [X] board meetings per year, review materials in advance, and vote on organizational policies, budgets, and strategic plans.
  • Fiduciary Duty: Review financial statements to ensure the organization’s resources are being managed responsibly.
  • Ambassadorship: Act as a champion for the organization in the community, helping to expand our network and advocate for our mission.
  • Fundraising Support: Participate in fundraising efforts, which may include making a personal annual contribution (meaningful to your budget) or introducing potential donors to the organization.
  • Committee Service: Serve on at least one specialized board committee (e.g., Finance, Fundraising, Governance).

Qualifications

  • Proven track record of securing grants (nonprofit experience preferred).
  • Exceptional written communication skills with the ability to turn data into a human story.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple overlapping deadlines.
