Joining our team means becoming part of a diverse, inclusive, and intellectually curious community of engineers, strategists, and innovators who are reshaping how the world works with data.
About the Role
As an Enterprise Customer Engineer focused on Data Analytics at arenaflex, you will serve as a subject matter expert and trusted technical advisor to our enterprise customers throughout the entire sales and adoption lifecycle. You will partner closely with our technical sales teams to differentiate arenaflex's cloud data platform, architect innovative solutions, lead proofs of concept, and remove technical barriers that stand in the way of customer success. You will engage directly with prospective and existing customers as well as strategic partners, helping them understand the power, flexibility, and scalability of arenaflex's data analytics offerings.
This role requires a unique blend of technical depth in data engineering, cloud architecture, and distributed systems, combined with the communication skills and executive presence needed to influence C-suite stakeholders. You will work on a variety of initiatives ranging from initial discovery workshops to deep architectural design sessions, from hands-on proof-of-concept execution to long-term strategic account growth. You will be the voice of the customer inside arenaflex, providing feedback that shapes the future of our products and services.
Key Responsibilities
- Customer Partnership and Opportunity Development: Collaborate with sales and account teams across North America to identify, qualify, and develop business opportunities centered on data analytics workloads. Understand customer objections at both business and technical levels, and design strategies to resolve blockers related to the full data lifecycle.
- Technical Advocacy and Relationship Building: Share deep data analytics expertise to support the long-term technical relationship with customers, including product and solution briefings, proof-of-concept execution, bid response support, and strategic advocacy within customer organizations.
- Requirements Gathering and Architecture Design: Lead full technical discovery sessions with customers to identify business and technical requirements. Architect scalable, secure, and cost-effective client solutions that align with those requirements and leverage the full breadth of arenaflex's data analytics platform.
- Compelling Solution Messaging: Prepare and deliver persuasive sales messaging that highlights the arenaflex value proposition. Use a range of techniques including whiteboarding, presentations, product demonstrations, whitepapers, and detailed RFI responses to communicate complex technical concepts with clarity and impact.
- Product Collaboration and Roadmap Influence: Interlock closely with arenaflex Product Management teams to influence the product roadmap through thought leadership, customer feedback synthesis, and triage of migration blockers. Act as the voice of the customer to ensure product evolution aligns with real-world enterprise needs.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work alongside solution architects, engineering teams, customer success managers, and partner organizations to deliver cohesive customer experiences that drive adoption, expansion, and long-term loyalty.
- Thought Leadership: Represent arenaflex at industry events, conferences, customer forums, and technical workshops as a recognized authority on cloud data analytics, data warehousing, and modern data architecture patterns.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Six or more years of experience working with cloud-native architecture in customer-facing or technical support roles.
- Demonstrated experience engaging with and presenting to technical stakeholders as well as executive leaders, including C-level audiences.
- Hands-on experience with big data technologies and concepts, including analytics warehousing, data processing, data transformation, data governance, data migrations, ETL and ELT pipelines, SQL and NoSQL databases, performance and scalability optimization, and batch versus streaming architectures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in technical sales, pre-sales engineering, or consulting roles focused on cloud computing, data analytics, or big data platforms.
- Deep experience with architecture design, implementation, performance tuning, schema design, and query optimization of scalable and distributed systems.
- Strong understanding of the broader cloud computing ecosystem, including infrastructure, storage, platforms, and data services, as well as cloud market dynamics and customer buying behavior.
- Experience developing data warehouses, data lakes, batch and real-time event processing systems, streaming architectures, ETL/ELT pipelines, data migrations, data visualization tools, and data governance frameworks on cloud-native platforms.
- Ability to deeply understand customer requirements, decompose complex business problems, and design robust technical architectures that address both immediate needs and long-term strategic goals.
- Excellent communication, storytelling, and presentation skills with the ability to translate technical depth into business value.
- Self-starter mentality with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous, and customer-driven environment.
Skills and Competencies for Success
Success in this role requires a rare combination of technical excellence, customer obsession, and strategic thinking. You should be equally comfortable designing a multi-petabyte data lake architecture as you are delivering an executive-level presentation on cloud data strategy. You will be expected to demonstrate thought leadership in modern data architecture patterns, including data mesh, data fabric, lakehouse architectures, and real-time analytics. A strong foundation in distributed systems, performance engineering, and data governance will set you apart, as will the ability to build trusted relationships with technical and business stakeholders alike.
Beyond technical skills, we are looking for individuals who embody arenaflex's core values of customer focus, intellectual humility, collaboration, and continuous learning. The ideal candidate is curious by nature, energized by complex challenges, and committed to helping customers succeed in their data transformation journeys.
