At arenaflex, we are on a mission to reinvent the insurance experience by blending cutting‑edge technology with a customer‑first mindset. With more than seven decades of industry leadership, arenaflex has grown into one of the nation’s largest auto insurers, renowned for its low rates, exceptional service, and innovative marketing. As a wholly owned subsidiary of a globally respected holding company, arenaflex offers a financially stable, forward‑thinking workplace where engineers can shape the future of insurance, influence business outcomes, and grow their careers in a supportive, high‑impact environment.

Why This Role Matters

Our insurance business is undergoing a massive transformation—from a legacy IT model to a modern tech‑driven organization where engineering excellence is the core driver of success. As a Senior Engineer on the CRM Customer Acquisitions team, you will be at the heart of this change, building high‑performance, low‑latency platforms that deliver frictionless experiences to millions of customers. You will help shape a culture of psychological safety, continuous improvement, and relentless innovation.

Position Overview

The Senior Engineer role is a pivotal position within arenaflex’s engineering staff. You will collaborate across multiple domains—including the arenaflex CRM, infrastructure, architecture, release management, application security, and product ownership—to design, develop, and maintain mission‑critical solutions. Your work will directly influence how customers interact with arenaflex, ensuring the highest standards of protection, availability, and performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect & Build Scalable Systems: Design, develop, and maintain distributed, resilient services that handle high transaction volumes with low latency.
  • Product Definition & Delivery: Translate business requirements into technical specifications, driving the solution toward the optimal outcome.
  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Partner with teams across the software lifecycle—from requirements gathering to testing and deployment—to ensure seamless integration.
  • Lead Design Sessions & Code Reviews: Facilitate architecture workshops, mentor peers, and uphold high engineering standards through rigorous code reviews.
  • Reusable Component Creation: Define and maintain reusable application patterns and components that accelerate development across the organization.
  • Tooling & Cloud Services: Leverage a suite of arenaflex cloud tools (including arenaflex’s cloud platform) for task management, source control, CI/CD, monitoring, and real‑time communication.
  • Mentorship & Knowledge Sharing: Coach junior engineers, disseminate best practices, and champion continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Operational Excellence: Participate in on‑call rotations, incident response, and post‑mortem analysis to improve system reliability.

Essential Qualifications

  • 4+ years of professional software development experience with at least two modern languages (e.g., Java, C++, Python, C#) and strong object‑oriented design skills.
  • 3+ years designing and building architecture for new and existing systems, emphasizing reliability, scalability, and performance.
  • 3+ years of hands‑on experience with cloud platforms (arenaflex’s cloud services, formerly known as AWS, GCP, or Azure).
  • 2+ years working with open‑source frameworks and libraries, demonstrating the ability to evaluate and adopt emerging technologies.
  • Proven expertise in REST/SOAP web services, enterprise middleware (e.g., Apache Camel, Spring, Spring Boot), and integration patterns.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to lead projects, influence stakeholders, and articulate technical concepts to non‑technical audiences.
  • Advanced understanding of DevOps principles, continuous delivery, and infrastructure‑as‑code practices.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git, and source‑control platforms (e.g., GitHub) within a cloud‑native environment.

Preferred Qualifications & Additional Skills

  • Experience with arenaflex CRM (formerly Salesforce) – including standard objects, custom objects, validation rules, Apex, SOQL, Visualforce, Lightning Aura, and LWC components.
  • Familiarity with low‑code automation tools such as flows and process builders within the arenaflex CRM ecosystem.
  • Knowledge of event‑driven integration frameworks and experience building real‑time data pipelines.
  • Hands‑on experience with relational databases (e.g., MS SQL Server, Oracle) and modern data access patterns.
  • Exposure to front‑end technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, and Flutter.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Technical Mastery: Deep proficiency in multiple programming languages, cloud architecture, and modern development frameworks.
  • Problem Solving: Ability to dissect complex problems, propose elegant solutions, and iterate quickly in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Collaboration: Strong team player who thrives in cross‑functional settings, respects diverse perspectives, and contributes to a psychologically safe culture.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated capacity to mentor others, drive technical discussions, and influence product direction.
  • Adaptability: Comfort with shifting priorities, rapid iteration, and evolving business needs typical of hyper‑growth organizations.
  • Continuous Learning: Commitment to staying current with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices.
