Experienced Data Annotation Supervisor for Remote Data Entry Jobs – Leading the Charge in Artificial Intelligence and Autonomous Driving Innovation

Introduction to Tesla and the Autopilot Data Annotation Organization Tesla, a pioneer in the electric vehicle and clean energy industries, is seeking an experienced Data Annotation Supervisor to join its Autopilot Data Annotation organization. As a leader in the development of autonomous driving technology, Tesla relies on accurate and high-quality data annotation to train its neural networks and improve the performance of its Autopilot system. The Autopilot Data Annotation organization is responsible for annotating images, movies, and distinct virtual digital camera statistics, serving as the foundation for the training of Tesla's artificial intelligence. As a Data Annotation Supervisor, you will play a critical role in leading a team of Data Annotation Specialists and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the data annotation process. Job Responsibilities and Expectations As a Data Annotation Supervisor, you will be responsible for leading a team of Data Annotation Specialists who label 3D and image data for neural network training. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting ongoing performance management on the team, creating training plans, tracking progress, and completing monthly analyses and performance reports
  • Evaluating daily performance in proprietary software and reporting daily summaries and team metrics
  • Working directly with engineers and Autopilot leadership to own annotation guidelines and ensure technical and operational constraints are met
  • Developing and maintaining documentation and training materials, and providing feedback and coaching to team members
  • Executing proper headcount allocation amongst Quality Control and labeling, and prioritizing project queues daily as directed by management
  • Ensuring documentation and daily planning for the team is accurate and continuously updated
  • Performing supervisory duties, including employee development, conducting bi-annual performance reviews, and monthly performance check-ins with Team Leads and Data Annotation Specialists
  • Recognizing and rewarding employees who consistently exceed expectations
  • Mentoring direct reports and ensuring the team works as a cohesive unit
  • Accurately managing timekeeping and attendance via the Kronos system

Essential Qualifications and Skills To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications and skills:

  • Experience managing and motivating medium-sized teams that perform manual operations
  • Ability to manage time efficiently, prioritizing tasks with a sense of urgency and completing them in a timely manner
  • Commitment to data accuracy and throughput
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with an aptitude for immediate learning systems
  • Proven track record of executing and meeting sensitive deadlines
  • Experience managing multiple competing priorities with limited resources
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex topics and ideas in a simple and concise manner
  • Proficiency in extensive workflow software (JIRA, Excel, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications and Skills While not required, the following preferred qualifications and skills will be considered an asset:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., computer science, engineering, mathematics)
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a focus on innovation and continuous improvement
  • Knowledge of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and autonomous driving technologies
  • Experience with data annotation tools and software
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and outside the box
