Position Summary The Tax Accountant will work directly with the Firm Owner and collaborate with bookkeepers, administrative personnel, and other professionals to prepare tax returns, analyze client data, conduct tax research, maintain documentation standards, and help ensure timely completion of client engagements. The successful candidate must be highly organized, resourceful, intellectually curious, and capable of independently researching and resolving technical tax issues when guidance is not immediately available. Employment Status This is a full-time W-2 position. To avoid conflicts of interest and ensure full commitment to clients and the firm, employees may not engage in concurrent employment, consulting, self-employment, tax preparation services, bookkeeping services, accounting services, or any other business activity without the prior written approval of the Firm Owner.

Minimum Qualifications

Required

  • Must be physically located within the United States.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must be able to successfully pass all applicable employment verification, background, and professional credential checks.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Taxation, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of recent public accounting experience, preferably with a CPA firm.
  • Demonstrated career stability over the past five to seven years, with a history of meaningful tenure and professional growth.
  • Strong individual income tax and business tax preparation experience.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
  • Reliable computer equipment, secure home office environment, and high-speed internet access.

Alternative Qualification Candidates with an Associate's degree may be considered if they possess at least twelve (12) years of progressively responsible tax preparation experience in public accounting. Strongly Preferred Qualifications

  • Active CPA license or Enrolled Agent designation.
  • Five (5) or more years of hands-on experience using Drake Software and/or UltraTax CS.
  • Experience preparing:
  • Form 1040
  • Form 1041
  • Form 1065
  • Form 1120-S
  • Form 1120
  • Multi-state tax returns
  • Experience with tax research and issue resolution.
  • Experience working in a paperless environment.
  • Familiarity with CRM and practice management systems.
  • Experience with client portals and document management systems.
