[Remote] Data Warehouse / SQL Developer

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Akkodis is seeking a Data Warehouse / SQL Developer for a Contract with a client in San Antonio, TX. The ideal candidate will drive end‑to‑end ETL development, build robust data pipelines, and enhance data performance through tuning, optimization, and cloud warehouse design.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop advanced SQL Server objects—including stored procedures, views, functions, and triggers—to support complex ETL and reporting needs
  • Build and maintain robust ETL/ELT pipelines using SSIS, Azure Data Factory, and Databricks to ingest, transform, and load data from diverse enterprise systems
  • Architect and optimize Azure Synapse–based data warehouses, including dimensional modeling (fact/dimension tables) and performance tuning of SQL queries, indexes, and partitions
  • Analyze legacy systems (COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM) and design strategies to integrate and migrate structured and unstructured data into Azure Data Lake and downstream warehouse layers
  • Monitor and troubleshoot ETL workloads, ensuring high data quality, efficient job execution, and adherence to data governance and security standards
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support BI/reporting initiatives, CI/CD pipelines, and agile delivery cycles while maintaining clear documentation for all data processes

Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field
  • 6–10 years of hands‑on experience in SQL development, ETL/SSIS, data warehousing, and Azure‑based data engineering
  • Expertise in designing, building, and optimizing cloud data warehouses (Azure Synapse, ADF, Databricks)
  • Strong ability to analyze legacy mainframe sources (COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM) and integrate them into modern data platforms
