Government Contract Specialist – Federal (Startup Small Business) - Contract to Hire

We are a startup small tech / engineering business seeking an experienced Government Contract Specialist to support our entry and growth in the federal contracting space. We are looking for a knowledgeable and proactive professional who can actively identify relevant federal bid opportunities and assist us in preparing and submitting competitive, compliant proposals. Key Responsibilities: Actively search for federal contracting opportunities (SAM.gov and other federal procurement platforms) Identify suitable bids, RFPs, RFQs, and contract vehicles Analyze solicitation requirements and compliance standards Assist in preparing, organizing, and submitting complete and compliant proposals Ensure adherence to FAR regulations and federal compliance requirements Provide guidance on certifications, representations, and registrations Track submissions and award announcements Required Qualifications: Proven experience in federal government contracting Strong working knowledge of FAR (Federal Acquisition Regulations) Experience preparing and submitting federal proposals Familiarity with SAM.gov, SBA programs, and small business set-asides Understanding of federal compliance requirements Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines Preferred: Experience working with startup or small businesses Knowledge of socio-economic certifications (8(a), WOSB, HUBZone, SDVOSB, etc.) Experience in proposal writing and pricing strategy This is initially a contract-based role with the potential for ongoing engagement based on performance and results.
