You will work closely with senior moderators, product managers, and the support operations team to resolve issues swiftly, document interactions accurately, and contribute to the ongoing refinement of our moderation policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor multiple live chat channels simultaneously, identifying and addressing policy violations, harassment, spam, and other disruptive behaviors.
  • Engage with users in a courteous and professional manner, providing clear explanations of community rules and offering guidance on appropriate conduct.
  • Escalate complex or high‑risk incidents to senior moderation staff, ensuring timely resolution and proper documentation.
  • Maintain detailed logs of moderation actions, user reports, and resolution outcomes in our internal ticketing system.
  • Participate actively in daily stand‑ups, weekly training sessions, and quarterly policy review meetings to stay aligned with evolving standards.
  • Collaborate with the product and engineering teams to flag recurring technical issues that affect chat quality or user safety.
  • Contribute ideas for improving automated moderation tools, user education resources, and community engagement initiatives.
  • Adhere to strict confidentiality protocols, safeguarding user data and internal operational information.

Essential Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional coursework in communications, psychology, or related fields is a plus.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in chat moderation, online community management, customer support, or a comparable role.
  • Exceptional written communication skills, with the ability to convey policies clearly and empathetically.
  • Strong problem‑solving aptitude, capable of assessing situations quickly and determining appropriate actions.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively in a remote environment.
  • Basic proficiency with common collaboration tools (e.g., Slack, Microsoft Teams, Zoom) and familiarity with ticketing systems.
  • Reliable high‑speed internet connection, a dedicated workspace, and a computer that meets minimum technical specifications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Experience with AI‑assisted moderation platforms or familiarity with content‑filtering algorithms.
  • Multilingual abilities, especially in Spanish, French, or Mandarin, to support a diverse user base.
  • Background in conflict resolution, crisis communication, or mental health first aid.
  • Previous remote work experience with a proven track record of meeting productivity goals.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Communication Excellence: Clear, concise, and courteous writing style; ability to de‑escalate tense situations.
  • Attention to Detail: Keen eye for subtle policy breaches and patterns of abusive behavior.
  • Technical Savvy: Comfort navigating multiple chat platforms, dashboards, and reporting tools.
  • Empathy & Cultural Sensitivity: Understanding of diverse perspectives and the ability to respond with compassion.
  • Decision‑Making: Confidence to act swiftly while adhering to established guidelines.
  • Team Collaboration: Willingness to share knowledge, seek feedback, and contribute to collective success.
