[Remote] Director of Business Development - Commercial HVAC

Goodrich Human Capital is a leading HVAC provider in the Northeast seeking a hands-on, entrepreneurial Director of Business Development to drive the growth of its commercial HVAC and electrification business. This role will lead commercial sales, strategic partnerships, and project execution, owning the full lifecycle from business development through installation and project completion.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategies to grow commercial HVAC and electrification revenue throughout the Northeast
  • Build relationships with general contractors, developers, property owners, engineers, consultants, property managers, and public-sector stakeholders
  • Drive the full sales cycle, including prospecting, bidding, proposal development, contract negotiation, and closing
  • Expand market presence across multifamily, mixed-use, office, public housing, and other commercial sectors
  • Establish scalable processes, reporting, and performance metrics to support long-term growth
  • Develop and manage relationships with utility companies, energy-efficiency program administrators, and related stakeholders
  • Position the company as a preferred implementation partner for electrification, decarbonization, and energy-efficiency initiatives
  • Identify and pursue opportunities tied to utility incentives, rebate programs, and public funding initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with program requirements and contractor standards
  • Oversee commercial projects from initial bid through final installation and closeout
  • Lead project planning, scheduling, staffing, subcontractor coordination, material readiness, and customer communication
  • Manage project budgets, schedules, change orders, and execution risks to ensure profitable delivery
  • Monitor project milestones, labor utilization, quality standards, and customer satisfaction
  • Provide leadership on major commercial job sites, ensuring projects are executed safely, efficiently, and according to scope
  • Coordinate field teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders to meet schedule, quality, and budget objectives
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, codes, permits, and inspection requirements
  • Resolve field issues and drive successful project turnover and closeout
  • Implement best practices for commercial project execution and quality control

Skills

  • 10+ years of experience in commercial HVAC, mechanical contracting, building systems, or commercial construction
  • Proven success developing commercial business and securing large-scale projects in the HVAC industry
  • Experience selling and/or managing commercial HVAC, heat pump, electrification, or related mechanical solutions
  • Strong background in commercial estimating, bidding, project management, and installation oversight
  • Demonstrated ability to balance business development, operations, project management, and field leadership
  • Strong understanding of commercial construction processes, project scheduling, and subcontractor management
  • Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
  • Willingness to travel throughout the Northeast and maintain a significant field presence
  • Experience working with utility-sponsored energy-efficiency or electrification programs
