[Remote] Legal Specialist
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Insight Global is seeking a Legal Specialist to guide research teams in enhancing AI model performance within the legal domain. The role involves creating annotation standards, translating legal expertise into teachable knowledge for AI systems, and collaborating with other experts to ensure the accuracy of training data.
Responsibilities
- Guide research teams to close knowledge gaps and improve AI model performance in your legal domain
- Create and maintain precise annotation standards tailored to your legal specialty
- As a domain SME, you'll set the gold standard for quality and rigor
- Translate tacit legal expertise into explicit, teachable knowledge for AI systems
- Develop guidelines and detailed rubrics / evaluation frameworks to assess legal reasoning across tasks
- Design challenging, domain-relevant legal tasks across multiple specializations, and write accurate and well-structured solutions to legal problems
- Evaluate legal tasks and solutions and provide clear, written feedback
- Collaborate with other subject matter experts to ensure consistency and accuracy in training data
Skills
- Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school, or advanced degree in a relevant field related to legal expertise
- A minimum of 5 years professional legal experience, outside of any internships or clerkships
- Exceptional written and verbal skills to clearly convey complex legal concepts to a diverse, non-expert audience
- Proven success working with cross-functional teams and external partners
- Eagerness to learn and thrive in a fast-evolving tech environment
- Experience teaching advanced legal concepts (e.g., law school instruction), demonstrating ability to distill and relay complex legal problems in logical, step-by-step thinking
- Domain expertise in 1 or more of the following: Constitutional Law, Criminal Law, Civil Procedure, Corporate Law, Intellectual Property Law, Employment and Labor Law, Regulatory and Compliance Law, Litigation and Dispute Resolution, Contract Law, Antitrust and Competition Law, International Law
