[Remote] Scrum Master – Financial Services (Life Insurance & Annuities)

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Securian Financial is seeking an experienced Scrum Master with a strong background in Life Insurance and Annuities to lead Agile delivery teams within a financial services environment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for fostering high-performing teams, driving Agile transformation, and ensuring delivery excellence while maintaining stakeholder transparency.

Responsibilities

  • Coach team members on Agile principles, Scrum practices, self-management, and cross-functionality
  • Build and sustain high-performing Agile teams
  • Foster collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning
  • Drive Agile maturity and team effectiveness
  • Facilitate all Scrum ceremonies, including:
  • Sprint Planning
  • Daily Stand-Ups
  • Sprint Reviews
  • Sprint Retrospectives
  • Backlog Refinement Sessions
  • Ensure all Scrum events are productive, time-boxed, and outcome-focused
  • Support Product Owners in defining Product Goals and refining Product Backlogs
  • Monitor sprint execution and team velocity
  • Manage sprint dashboards and Agile reporting metrics
  • Prepare and maintain burndown charts and sprint performance metrics
  • Ensure adherence to Definition of Done (DoD)
  • Support incremental delivery of high-quality product increments
  • Proactively identify and remove organizational, technical, and process impediments
  • Escalate blockers when necessary
  • Minimize delivery risks through early issue identification and resolution
  • Enable smooth sprint execution and predictable delivery outcomes
  • Facilitate collaboration between business stakeholders and Scrum teams
  • Maintain transparency regarding sprint progress, risks, dependencies, and outcomes
  • Provide stakeholders with meaningful Agile metrics and delivery insights
  • Build trust through evidence-based reporting and communication
  • Drive continuous improvement through effective retrospectives and actionable feedback loops
  • Act as a change agent for Agile transformation initiatives
  • Promote empirical thinking and Agile best practices across the organization
  • Align delivery practices with strategic business goals and customer outcomes

Skills

  • Proven Scrum Master experience within the Life Insurance and Annuities domain
  • Current LinkedIn profile must be fully updated and verified with the candidate's current employer/client
  • Candidates without a verified LinkedIn profile will not be considered unless they hold a Bachelor's degree from one of the following institutions: Top U.S. Engineering Universities or India-Based Institutions
  • 5+ years of Scrum Master experience
  • Strong experience in the Life Insurance and Annuities industry (Mandatory)
  • Deep understanding of Agile, Scrum, and Lean principles
  • Proven ability to coach self-managing, cross-functional Agile teams
  • Strong facilitation, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience managing Agile metrics, sprint dashboards, and burndown charts
  • Experience supporting Product Owners and backlog management activities
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills
  • Ability to influence teams and leadership without direct authority
  • USC, GC, GC-EAD Only
  • Within Driving Distance of Milwaukee, WI (or one of the designated office locations)
  • Strong Scrum Master Experience in Financial Services Environment
  • Agile/Scrum Coaching and Delivery Leadership Experience
  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM), PSM, SAFe Scrum Master, or equivalent Agile certification
  • Experience working in enterprise-scale Agile environments
  • Experience with Agile tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, Rally, or VersionOne
  • Knowledge of Agile transformation and organizational change management
