A New Beginning-Genesis 2 is seeking talented Electrical Engineers with experience in the defense industry, specifically in Fuze Ordnance Systems (FOS). The role involves designing advanced fuzing solutions for military applications, requiring a strong background in electronics and a collaborative approach to meet customer specifications and industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to handle short notice needs/requests
  • Able to work within established design guidelines to ensure products meet or exceed customer and industry specifications
  • Act as primary technical interface to internal and external customers
  • Adept at multitasking across several projects
  • Analog and digital design of ruggedized electronics for ordnance applications
  • Apply GD&T, tolerance analysis, and sound engineering principles to ensure manufacturability and performance
  • Assist in failure investigations using structured methods
  • Be action-oriented and organized
  • Circuit tolerance analyses using hand calculations and Spice tools
  • Competent in circuit analysis, module design, and best practices (EMI, ESD protection, DFM)
  • Contribute to process improvements to ensure hardware-firmware quality and time-to-market
  • Creates test plans/reports and conducts comprehensive testing
  • Define and execute design verification strategies (shock, vibration, thermal, acceleration, etc.)
  • Define, maintain, and improve the department’s development processes and best practices

  • Strong fundamentals in mechanics, vibration, fatigue, and thermal concepts
  • Support hiring, workforce planning, and performance management
  • Support production by troubleshooting issues, implementing design updates, and improving processes
  • Travel: 5-10%
  • Troubleshoots with standard lab equipment (oscilloscopes, function generators)
  • Circuit design and component selection, designing ruggedized electronics for ordnance applications that meet customer requirements
  • Generate test plans and test reports related to product performance (Brassboard, Design Verification, Qualification, Firing Properties, etc.)
  • Apply mechanical engineering principles to design and maintain the company's FOS product lines during new product design, development, and sustain production across a multidisciplinary team
  • Supports production of existing products, working with manufacturing and quality to troubleshoot issues, document changes, and adhere to AS9100 and ISO9001 quality standards
  • Responsible for architecture, design and development of next generation Electronic Safe and Arm Devices utilizing the latest state of the art technologies
  • ASIC / FPGA designs will include various sensor interfaces, sequence verification, A/D and D/A interfaces, communication protocols, state machines, timer chains, etc. used in Electronic Safe and Arm Devices (Fuzes) for DOD weapon systems
  • Microsemi / Actel is our targeted FPGA and QuestaSim is our simulation tool. The primary responsibilities will focus on Verilog FPGA design, System Verilog UVM verification and C# based microcontroller development
  • Analysis of the requirements, architecture definition, design and debug of FPGA and associated hardware and microcontroller products and associated firmware
  • Programming experience in C for embedded systems, including development of algorithms, manipulation of data structures, and implementing highly optimized code
  • Familiar working with code version control repository tools, such as Subversion (SVN), GIT or TFS
  • Digital Design practices and principles, logic design and architecture and experience with HDL’s (i.e Verilog, VHDL)

  • 5+ years of experience designing with basic digital building blocks including logic gates, flip flops, timers, and filters
  • 4+ years of experience with power conversion concepts (AC/DC, DC/DC, and DC/AC, Linear and Switching Supplies)
  • 5+ years of experience in troubleshooting using standard lab equipment (oscilloscopes, function generators, meters, etc.)
  • 4+ years of experience with schematic capture and/or board layout utilities (Altium, PADS, etc.)
  • 4+ years of experience lead a large-scale technical project from start to completion with minimal guidance
  • 4+ years of experience in preparing and participating in design reviews (internal and external)
  • 4+ years of experience in creating Technical Documentation (Test Plans, Test Reports, Drawings, etc.)
  • 4+ years of experience with Temperature sensors, MEMs accelerometers, differential pressure sensors, and GYROs
  • 5+ years of experience with serial communication buses including UART, SPI, and I2C
  • 5+ years of experience with Root Cause analysis
  • 4+ years of experience with general design best practices (EMI suppression, ESD protection, and Short circuit protection)
