Job Description

Essential Functions: Â Properly prepares the examination and treatment areas per clinic standards. Â Completes patient rooming procedures to include vital signs, data collection and other identified components specific to the clinic setting and within outlined Scope of Responsibilities. Â Accurately administers and documents unit dose medications/ immunizations in accordance with clinic policy following successful training/competency. Â Performs EKG's and laboratory testing per CLIA license of the clinic following successful training/competency. Â Ensures documentation in the patient record is accurate, clear, concise within outlined Scope of Responsibilities. May function as provider scribe following successful training. Â Completes all assigned clerical activities and supply maintenance/ordering as directed. Â Assists with scheduling follow up care/appointments as ordered/directed. Â Distributes pre-printed/pre-approved patient education materials. Directs all patient questions to provider or RN. Â Functions within the documented Monument Health Scope of Responsibilities. Â All other duties as assigned. Additional Requirements Required: Education - High School Diploma/GED Equivalent in General Studies; Graduate of an Accredited Medical Assistant University or accredited training facility Certification - Medical Assistant-Certified (MA) by one of the listed certifying bodies; Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Professional Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) within 60 days of hire Any Medial Assistant hired between July 1, 2021 and June 30, 2024 may be granted 6 months to obtain national certification. Any Medical Assistant hired after July 1, 2024 must hold one of the following national certifications upon hire: Â American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) Â American Medical Technologists (AMT) Â National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Â National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) Â American Medical Certification Association (AMCA) Preferred: Education - Completion of a nursing education program that is approved by a board of nursing Certification - Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - South Dakota Board of NursingExperience - 1+ years of Clinical Experience; 1+ years of Healthcare Experience Physical Requirements: Medium work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
