Position Overview

The Senior AD/PKI Customer Engineer role is a highly technical, customer‑facing position that blends deep expertise in Active Directory (AD) and Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) with a passion for delivering proactive, value‑added services. Working remotely, you will partner with arenaflex’s premier customers to design, implement, and optimize complex AD and PKI solutions, conduct workshops, and provide strategic guidance that drives security excellence and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect, deploy, and manage large‑scale two‑ and three‑tier PKI hierarchies (including multiple issuers) across heterogeneous environments.
  • Configure and maintain Network Device Enrollment Service (NDES) and Online Certificate Status Protocol (OCSP) services to ensure reliable certificate issuance and validation.
  • Develop and execute scripted installation processes for AD Certificate Services, leveraging PowerShell, DSC, or other automation frameworks.
  • Perform comprehensive database cleanup, PKI domain maintenance, and cross‑forest implementations to guarantee data integrity and high availability.
  • Administer Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS), including replication monitoring, performance tuning, and troubleshooting of complex AD issues.
  • Design, implement, and troubleshoot Group Policy Objects (GPOs) to enforce security baselines and operational standards.
  • Provide security hardening and administration for the AD environment, integrating PKI controls and best‑practice policies.
  • Deliver proactive services such as education workshops, security assessments, and expert guidance to enhance customer maturity.
  • Collaborate with arenaflex’s consulting practice and product groups to bring the latest innovations to customers before they become mainstream.
  • Travel virtually (and occasionally on‑site) to customer locations to conduct training sessions, share industry insights, and support implementation projects.
  • Maintain and expand professional certifications (e.g., arenaflex Certified Solutions Expert, Security+, etc.) and contribute to the development of best‑practice documentation.
  • Produce clear, concise technical documentation, presentations, and training materials that translate complex concepts into actionable knowledge for diverse audiences.
  • Build and nurture strategic, long‑term relationships with customers, acting as a trusted advisor and champion for arenaflex’s security portfolio.

Essential Qualifications

  • 7+ years of hands‑on experience with Active Directory Certificate Services (AD CS) in enterprise environments.
  • Demonstrated expertise in designing, implementing, and managing multi‑tier PKI hierarchies with more than one issuing CA.
  • Proficiency with NDES and OCSP configuration, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
  • Strong understanding of AD DS architecture, replication mechanisms, and performance monitoring tools.
  • Solid background in Group Policy design, implementation, and troubleshooting across large, distributed environments.
  • Fundamental networking knowledge (IP, DHCP, DNS, WINS, routing) and the ability to diagnose network‑related authentication issues.
  • Experience with database cleanup, PKI domain maintenance, and cross‑forest trust relationships.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a proven ability to convey technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Professional certifications such as arenaflex Certified Solutions Expert (CSE), Security+, or equivalent are highly desirable.

Preferred Qualifications & Additional Skills

  • Experience scripting AD CS installations using PowerShell, DSC, or similar automation tools.
  • Knowledge of Active Directory Disaster Recovery strategies and tools.
  • Familiarity with monitoring solutions (e.g., arenaflex Monitoring Suite, System Center Operations Manager) for AD health and performance.
  • Exposure to arenaflex Identity Manager, arenaflex Federated Services, and arenaflex AD Connect for hybrid identity scenarios.
  • Hands‑on experience with arenaflex Active Directory (cloud‑based) and related synchronization technologies.
  • Ability to lead workshops, develop curriculum, and deliver engaging training sessions to technical and business audiences.
  • Strong analytical mindset with a track record of diagnosing complex security and authentication problems.
