About arenaflex – Pioneering the Future of Affordable Air Travel

arenaflex is a global leader in the aviation industry, dedicated to connecting people to the moments that matter through friendly, reliable, and low‑cost air travel. Our mission drives every decision, from the way we design flight routes to the innovative data solutions that keep our operations running smoothly. As we continue to expand our digital footprint, we are looking for a talented Data Integration & Analytics Specialist to join our remote team and help turn complex data challenges into strategic opportunities.

Why This Role Matters

In today’s data‑driven world, the ability to collect, harmonize, and analyze massive volumes of information is a competitive advantage. This role sits at the heart of arenaflex’s Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, and Machine Learning groups, empowering them to build, deploy, and maintain high‑quality data pipelines that fuel predictive and prescriptive analytics. As a senior‑level data professional, you will own the end‑to‑end lifecycle of data assets, ensuring that our analysts, scientists, and business stakeholders have the clean, reliable data they need to make informed decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Complex Data Integration Projects: Design and execute large‑scale data integration initiatives that bring together disparate sources (relational databases, NoSQL stores, APIs, streaming platforms, and third‑party data feeds) into a unified, searchable data lake.
  • Enable Advanced Analytics: Collaborate with AI/ML engineers to apply modern data integration techniques and tools, creating datasets that support descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analysis.
  • Cross‑Functional Communication: Act as the primary liaison between data engineers, data scientists, product owners, and business analysts, translating technical requirements into actionable data solutions.
  • Define and Document Data Standards: Establish data governance policies, metadata conventions, and data quality metrics that align with arenaflex’s enterprise data strategy.
  • Maintain Data Asset Health: Monitor data pipelines for performance, reliability, and compliance; proactively resolve issues and optimize processes for scalability.
  • Mentor Junior Team Members: Provide technical guidance, code reviews, and knowledge‑sharing sessions to foster a culture of continuous learning within the data engineering community.
  • Support Business Intelligence Initiatives: Work closely with BI developers to ensure that dashboards, reports, and visualizations are built on accurate, timely data.
  • Drive Innovation: Stay abreast of emerging data technologies (e.g., cloud data warehouses, data mesh, streaming analytics) and recommend adoption strategies that keep arenaflex at the forefront of the industry.
  • Ad‑Hoc Data Analysis: Conduct exploratory data analysis and provide actionable insights to senior leadership on operational efficiency, customer behavior, and market trends.
  • Collaborate on Data Security: Partner with the security and compliance teams to enforce data protection standards, ensuring that all data handling complies with regulatory requirements.

Essential Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or a related field. A master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Data Analytics, Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer) are a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of hands‑on experience in data engineering, data integration, or a similar role, with a proven track record of delivering end‑to‑end data solutions in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong command of at least one programming language used for data processing (Python, Java, Scala, or Go) and familiarity with open‑source tools such as Apache Spark, Kafka, Airflow, or dbt.
  • Database Expertise: Deep understanding of relational (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Cassandra, DynamoDB) databases, including data modeling, query optimization, and performance tuning.
  • Data Modeling & Architecture: Experience designing data warehouses, data lakes, and data mesh architectures, with a focus on scalability and maintainability.
  • Analytical Mindset: Ability to translate complex business problems into clear data requirements and to perform rigorous data analysis using statistical methods.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication, capable of presenting technical concepts to non‑technical audiences and influencing cross‑functional stakeholders.
  • Problem‑Solving Ability: Demonstrated aptitude for troubleshooting data pipeline failures, diagnosing root causes, and implementing robust solutions.

Preferred Qualifications & Additional Skills

  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure) and their native data services (Redshift, BigQuery, Synapse, etc.).
  • Knowledge of data governance frameworks (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and data lineage tools.
  • Familiarity with machine learning pipelines and feature store concepts.
  • Exposure to containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD practices for data workflows.
  • Certification in data engineering or data science (e.g., Cloudera Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate).
  • Passion for aviation or travel industry trends, with an understanding of how data drives operational excellence in airlines.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Critical Thinking: Ability to assess data quality, identify gaps, and propose strategic improvements.
  • Collaboration: Strong team player who thrives in a remote, distributed environment, fostering trust and shared ownership.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable navigating shifting priorities and evolving technology landscapes while maintaining focus on business outcomes.
  • Leadership: Proactive in driving initiatives, mentoring peers, and championing best practices across the data community.
  • Detail Orientation: Meticulous attention to data integrity, documentation, and compliance requirements.
