[Remote] Fact Checking Analyst - English (USA)

Welo Data is seeking detail-oriented Fact Checking Analysts to ensure the accuracy of information, which will enhance the reliability of AI systems. The role involves verifying claims through online research and providing structured findings with accuracy ratings.
Responsibilities
- Read through information and spot claims that need to be fact-checked
- Go online, dig into sources, and verify whether a claim is true or false
- When different sources say different things, figure out which one is most trustworthy and explain why
- Clearly separate what is a fact, what is an opinion, and what simply cannot be verified
- Use your judgment to handle tricky or unclear claims that don't have an obvious answer
- Look at information in context — don't just take it at face value
- Write up your findings in a clear, structured way and give each claim an accuracy rating
Skills
- Background in Journalism, Research, Fact-Checking, Law, Communications, Public Policy, Editorial, Content Analysis, or related field
- Strong written English & online research skills
- Analytical mindset with excellent attention to detail
- Comfortable making evidence-based decisions under ambiguity
- Proficient with web research tools and search engines
- Ability to work independently and follow detailed guidelines
