We invest heavily in talent development, provide world‑class learning resources, and celebrate a culture where curiosity, ownership, and inclusion thrive.

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer to own the end‑to‑end design, implementation, and operation of data ingestion pipelines for the arenaflex Ring data warehouse. This role sits at the intersection of business partnership, data architecture, and cloud engineering, enabling our internal and external stakeholders to access clean, reliable, and timely data for product development, finance, marketing, and customer support.

The position is fully remote, based in California, and offers a competitive salary range of $35,000‑$40,000 per year (adjusted for geographic market). You will work closely with product owners, analytics teams, and external partners to translate business requirements into robust data solutions that drive actionable insights.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner Collaboration: Gather, analyze, and document data requirements from business partners across verticals such as Membership, Deals, Turn‑around Planning, Finance, Product, and Customer Service.
  • Data Ingestion Design: Build new data ingestion pipelines using a blend of native AWS services (e.g., Redshift, S3, Glue, Kinesis, Firehose, Lambda) and arenaflex‑specific tools.
  • Pipeline Maintenance & Optimization: Maintain, refactor, and enhance existing pipelines to meet evolving standards, security policies, and performance SLAs.
  • Tool Development: Design and develop internal tools and dashboards that enable both arenaflex teams and external partners to monitor data quality, lineage, and throughput.
  • Code Review & Best Practices: Conduct thorough code reviews, enforce ETL best practices, and mentor junior engineers on data‑cleanliness standards.
  • Scalability & Reliability: Architect solutions that scale horizontally, handle high‑volume streaming data, and provide fault‑tolerant recovery mechanisms.
  • Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Produce clear technical documentation, data dictionaries, and runbooks to ensure knowledge continuity across the organization.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay abreast of emerging data technologies, industry trends, and regulatory changes; proactively propose enhancements that align with arenaflex’s strategic roadmap.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 3+ years of hands‑on experience designing, building, and operating data pipelines in a production environment.
  • Proficiency with SQL and relational database concepts; ability to write complex queries for data transformation and validation.
  • Demonstrated experience with data modeling, warehousing, and ETL architecture.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills, with a track record of translating ambiguous business needs into concrete technical solutions.
  • Excellent communication abilities—both written and verbal—to interact effectively with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications & Technical Skills

  • Hands‑on experience with AWS data services such as Redshift, S3, Glue, EMR, Kinesis, Firehose, Lambda, and IAM.
  • Programming expertise in at least one modern language (Python, Java, Scala, or Node.js) for building custom ETL logic.
  • Familiarity with non‑relational data stores (object storage, document databases, key‑value stores, graph databases, or column‑family stores).
  • Exposure to data‑pipeline orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, Step Functions) and CI/CD pipelines for data engineering.
  • Experience working in a fast‑paced, agile environment with cross‑functional teams.
  • Knowledge of data governance, security compliance (e.g., GDPR, CCPA), and data‑privacy best practices.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Analytical Mindset: Ability to dissect large data sets, identify anomalies, and propose corrective actions.
  • Ownership Mentality: Take end‑to‑end responsibility for data solutions, from inception through production support.
  • Collaboration: Work seamlessly with product managers, analysts, and external partners to ensure data meets business objectives.
  • Adaptability: Quickly learn new technologies and adjust to shifting priorities without compromising quality.
  • Attention to Detail: Uphold rigorous data‑cleanliness standards and enforce best practices across the pipeline lifecycle.

Career Growth & Learning Opportunities

arenaflex invests heavily in the professional development of its engineers. As a Senior Data Engineer, you will have access to:

  • Mentorship programs with senior architects and industry experts.
  • Sponsored certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Data Analytics, Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer).
  • Internal hackathons and innovation labs where you can prototype new data products.
  • Opportunities to transition into data‑science leadership, platform engineering, or product management roles.
  • Cross‑functional projects that expose you to the full spectrum of arenaflex’s business—from hardware design to customer experience.
