Remote · USA Full-time New today

About arenaflex

arenaflex is a pioneering leader in the retail and health‑care ecosystem, delivering innovative solutions that blend technology, data, and customer‑centric services. With a heritage that stretches back over a century, arenaflex has evolved from a modest neighborhood store into a global powerhouse that leverages cutting‑edge artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to drive operational excellence, enhance customer experiences, and create new revenue streams. Our mission is to empower every stakeholder—customers, partners, and employees—with data‑driven insights that enable smarter decisions, faster outcomes, and sustainable growth.

Why This Role Matters

As a Senior Data Scientist working remotely for arenaflex, you will be at the heart of our data‑intelligence engine. You will translate massive, complex data sets into actionable strategies, develop predictive models that anticipate market trends, and partner with cross‑functional teams to embed AI solutions into everyday business processes. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of a legacy brand while working in a flexible, fully remote environment that values innovation, autonomy, and continuous learning.

Role Overview

The Senior Data Scientist is responsible for applying sophisticated information‑science techniques, advanced analytics, and AI methodologies to generate insights, recommendations, and strategic guidance. You will serve as a trusted advisor to product development, finance, marketing, and operations teams, ensuring that data‑centric solutions are both technically sound and aligned with business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and deploy scalable machine‑learning models that address high‑impact business problems such as demand forecasting, customer segmentation, pricing optimization, and fraud detection.
  • Lead end‑to‑end data science projects—from data ingestion and cleaning to model validation, deployment, and monitoring—using modern cloud‑based platforms (e.g., Azure Databricks, Snowflake, AWS SageMaker).
  • Collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and business analysts to translate business requirements into analytical solutions, ensuring clear communication of technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Perform exploratory data analysis (EDA) to uncover hidden patterns, trends, and anomalies, and present findings through compelling visualizations using tools such as Matplotlib, Seaborn, and Plotly.
  • Develop and maintain robust data pipelines using Python, PySpark, and SQL, guaranteeing data quality, reliability, and reproducibility across the organization.
  • Implement and fine‑tune advanced algorithms—including decision trees, random forests, XGBoost, gradient boosting, K‑means clustering, deep neural networks (TensorFlow, PyTorch), and Bayesian inference—to solve both supervised and unsupervised learning tasks.
  • Conduct rigorous A/B testing and causal inference studies to evaluate the impact of new features, marketing campaigns, and operational changes.
  • Champion best practices in model governance, version control (Git), continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD), and model interpretability (SHAP, LIME) to maintain transparency and regulatory compliance.
  • Mentor junior data scientists and analysts, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing, curiosity, and methodological rigor.
  • Stay abreast of emerging AI/ML research, tools, and industry trends, and proactively recommend innovative approaches that can give arenaflex a competitive edge.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related STEM field; a minimum of 4 years of professional experience in data science, AI, or quantitative analytics.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Python and SQL; hands‑on experience with PySpark or equivalent distributed‑computing frameworks.
  • Proven track record of building and deploying production‑grade machine‑learning models on large, complex datasets (minimum 5 TB of data).
  • Deep understanding of statistical modeling, hypothesis testing, and experimental design, with the ability to translate business questions into analytical frameworks.
  • Strong experience with supervised learning techniques (regression, classification, ensemble methods) and unsupervised learning (clustering, dimensionality reduction).
  • Familiarity with cloud‑based ML platforms (Azure ML, AWS SageMaker, Google AI Platform) and data‑warehouse technologies such as Snowflake.
  • Excellent communication skills—capable of articulating complex technical concepts to senior leadership, product owners, and non‑technical audiences.
  • Ability to thrive in a remote, fast‑paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and deliver high‑quality results with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s or Ph.D. in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Data Science, Applied Mathematics, Electrical Engineering).
  • Experience with deep learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch) and GPU‑accelerated training pipelines.
  • Background in Internet of Things (IoT) analytics, edge AI, or real‑time streaming data processing.
  • Domain expertise in retail, healthcare, or financial services, particularly in areas such as inventory optimization, patient outcomes, or risk modeling.
  • Hands‑on experience with MLOps tools (MLflow, Kubeflow, Airflow) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Track record of publishing research or contributing to open‑source projects in the AI/ML community.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to dissect large data sets, identify patterns, and derive actionable insights.
  • Problem‑Solving: Creative approach to tackling ambiguous business challenges with data‑driven solutions.
  • Technical Proficiency: Mastery of Python, SQL, PySpark, and ML libraries; comfortable with Linux/Unix environments.
  • Collaboration: Proven experience working with cross‑functional teams, including engineers, product managers, and business stakeholders.
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal skills; ability to produce clear documentation, presentations, and dashboards.
  • Leadership: Mentorship capabilities and a willingness to guide junior talent.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable navigating a dynamic, remote work setting and shifting priorities.

  • Opportunities to lead high‑visibility projects that directly influence corporate strategy and revenue.
  • Cross‑functional rotations that broaden your expertise across finance, marketing, supply chain, and technology.
