Support for Anxiety Volunteer

Responsibilities: As a co-facilitator for a Support for Anxiety group, you will introduce discussion topics and help moderate conversation. In addition to the weekly meetings, this role requires attendance at a quarterly volunteer meeting as well as training and orientation before you begin volunteering. You will need to complete a Vulnerable Sector Screening for this role. This is a virtual group (hosted over Zoom) on Mondays from 1:30-2:30 pm. Commitments to the role: Completion of Group Facilitation training Completion of general orientation and on-the-job training; Complete a Vulnerable Sector Screening Check. Availability for day and/or evenings and occasional on-call Minimum of a one-year commitment 1.5 hours per week minimum Notify the program coordinator, in advance if you are not able to be present for a group. Submit volunteer hours on a monthly basis Adheres to CMHA’s written volunteer policies and procedures Duties: Introduces topics for discussion during groups Keep discussion on track and on topic. Prioritize a member in crisis, summarize discussions, and end meetings on a positive note. Note the content (what is said) and process (how it is said or is not said). Encourage consensus on all group decisions made. Empower group members to problem-solve and resolve any conflicts. Ensure that all participants have the opportunity to speak, and be respectful if a member has chosen to pass. Ensure that the “Comfort Agreement” guidelines are followed and respected. Stress confidentiality outside of the group. This builds trust to be able to share. Identify commonalities between group members. Submit the mandatory forms within the required time frame.
