The Opportunity: Data Scientist, Analytics & Business Intelligence

arenaflex is seeking an experienced and passionate Data Scientist to join our Analytics team in a remote, part-time capacity. This is an exciting opportunity to leverage your analytical skills to drive data-informed decision making across our platform, services, and engineering teams. You'll play a pivotal role in shaping how success is measured at arenaflex, defining what questions should be asked, and scaling analytical methods and tools to support our rapidly growing business.

In this role, you will help support the vision for business analytics, develop solutions architecture for data-driven business initiatives, and execute strategic projects such as research analysis and campaign performance reporting. You'll be paving the way for high-quality, high-speed decision making while directly contributing to our data-driven culture. This position reports to the Director of Data Science and offers the flexibility of remote work with a competitive hourly rate of $19.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with members of our Platform and Services teams to guide them toward better decision making based on available data
• Advance data and insights through effective communication with partners and various teams, working collaboratively with colleagues to complete data projects
• Maintain a customer-driven focus while serving as a domain and product expert through data, building trust among peers
• Manage ambiguous issues and adapt analytical methods to address complex questions
• Identify trade-offs between speed and quality of different analytical approaches
• Develop analytical frameworks to measure team success by working with teams to establish success metrics, create approaches to track data, investigate anomalies, and develop a common language for all stakeholders to understand these metrics
• Operationalize data processes to provide partners with ad-hoc analysis, automated dashboards, and self-service reporting tools
• Oversee data instrumentation, dashboard/report building, metric reviews, validate team hypotheses, provide guidance on success/failure metrics, and conduct ad-hoc analysis
• Work with technical and non-technical team members throughout the organization, with your work impacting numerous partners at arenaflex

Qualifications & Skills

Essential Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or related discipline)
• 2+ years of domain experience in a consumer web commerce environment, or in a high-growth, high-velocity product or team
• Expert SQL skills and proficiency in Python or R for data analysis and manipulation
• Experience using data to generate insights and drive business results
• Familiarity with data analysis and communication methodologies, including time series analysis, experimentation, data visualization, and defining KPI strategy for business initiatives
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain professional relationships
• Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Genuine passion for online communities, gaming, and streaming platforms
• Experience in Operational Excellence, defining metrics and analytical reporting
• Experience working with software development and operational data
• Familiarity with machine learning techniques such as logistic regression, decision trees, and neural networks
• Experience with data visualization tools and platforms (Tableau, Power BI, Looker, etc.)
• Knowledge of statistical analysis methods and experimental design
• Experience with data warehousing and big data technologies
