Role Overview: Data Engineer - Big Data Pipeline Specialist

We're seeking a passionate and skilled Data Engineer to join our dynamic technology team at arenaflex. Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain sophisticated data pipelines to support advanced analytics and business intelligence solutions across arenaflex's healthcare and retail operations
  • Identify valuable internal and external data sources that can provide strategic insights for arenaflex's evolving healthcare initiatives
  • Collaborate closely with data scientists and business stakeholders to define data requirements for designing, developing, and deploying new solutions that align with organizational priorities
  • Develop software applications that process, store, and serve data for various stakeholders across arenaflex's network of pharmacies and healthcare services
  • Create data structures and pipelines to organize, collect, and standardize data that enables insightful analytics and meets diverse reporting needs
  • Write ETL (Extract/Transform/Load) processes, design database systems, and develop tools for real-time and offline analytic processing
  • Develop scalable, repeatable, and secure data pipelines that can handle the volume and complexity of healthcare data while maintaining data integrity
  • Troubleshoot software applications and processes for data consistency and integrity, implementing robust solutions to ensure data quality
  • Integrate data from multiple sources, assuring they adhere to data quality and accessibility standards across arenaflex's systems
  • Effectively resolve problems and roadblocks as they occur, minimizing disruptions to data-dependent business processes
  • Interact with internal and external partners to exchange semi-complex information related to assigned projects, representing arenaflex's technical standards

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field
  • At least 1 year of experience in data engineering, with a focus on building and maintaining data pipelines
  • Advanced expertise in SQL, including complex query writing, stored procedures, and database optimization
  • Experience establishing and maintaining key relationships with internal colleagues, organization partners, and leadership within a matrix organization to ensure quality standards for service delivery
  • Strong experience in analyzing and reporting data to identify problems, trends, or exceptions that drive improvement and inform decision-making
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time for organization purposes, including both in-state and out-of-state travel as required
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot data issues and implement effective solutions
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in a technical discipline (Master's or PhD preferred)
  • Experience with REST API development and integration in healthcare or retail data environments
  • Hands-on experience with Azure application deployment and management
  • Extensive experience with Azure data technologies including Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks using Python or Scala, App Services, Azure Data Lake, Azure Functions, Event Hubs, Event Grids, and Logic Apps
  • Experience in building Azure DevOps pipelines to enable Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD), Infrastructure as Code (IaaS), and automation
  • Familiarity with healthcare data standards and compliance requirements (HIPAA, HITECH)
  • Experience with big data technologies such as Apache Spark, Hadoop, or similar frameworks
  • Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and best practices for large-scale data environments
  • Experience with cloud-native data solutions and multi-cloud architectures
