The Opportunity: Advertising Information Engineering

The Advertising Information Design team at arenaflex sits at the heart of building a data ecosystem that powers our understanding and decision-making about the impact of advertising on our business. As an integral part of our larger data engineering organization within the Content and Studio Data Engineering division, we foster a strong engineering community that promotes both technical and personal growth.

This team's primary focus is constructing rich, connected, and easily accessible data about advertising inventory, pricing, targeting, and beyond. Our core advertising data serves multiple business areas and functions, from enabling educational analytics to fueling feature development for statistical models. The Role

We're seeking a passionate, mature, and curious Data Engineer with advertising domain experience to contribute to our team's impact in this rapidly growing business. In this role, you'll be instrumental in shaping how we leverage data to drive advertising excellence and business value.

What You'll Do

• Design, build, and expand the core data models that our Advertising teams use to address critical business questions
• Collaborate with a team of skilled data engineers to envision how data elements from various sources should fit together, then execute that vision
• Take ownership of critical components of arenaflex's Advertisements data model
• Partner with stakeholders to understand requirements, model tables using programming and data warehouse best practices
• Develop data pipelines to ensure timely delivery of high-quality data
• Collaborate with Analytics Engineers, Data Scientists, and Software Engineers to create datasets that serve analytics and reporting needs
• Establish best practices for managing datasets with sensitive information
• Build strong, collaborative relationships with data scientists, analysts, and machine learning professionals

• Essential Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related technical field
• Hands-on experience building production data pipelines, preferably using distributed processing frameworks like Spark or Hive/Hadoop
• Deep expertise in data modeling and establishing data architectures across multiple systems
• Strong programming skills in SQL and Python
• Ability to write clean, understandable, and elegant code
• Experience collaborating in team-based software development environments using version control and CI/CD practices
• Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in domains related to advertising, data privacy, and GDPR
• Knowledge of data warehousing, data modeling, and data transformation for both batch and streaming
• Expertise in building performant data pipelines and optimizing existing workflows for new features
• Familiarity with Big Data technologies including Hadoop, Spark, Pig, Hive, and similar platforms
• Experience with acquiring and modeling data from application APIs
