We’re looking for a Senior Underwriter/Executive Underwriter, Management Liability. Hamilton Select is looking for an experienced senior underwriter to join our Management Liability team, underwriting Private company D&O, Not-for-profit D&O, Employment practices liability, Fiduciary Liability, and Crime. This role is a hybrid working position based in either Richmond, VA, or the greater New York/New Jersey area. We will consider a remote US location for appropriately qualified candidates. This underwriting leadership role is within Hamilton Select, Hamilton Insurance Group’s US Excess & Surplus (E&S) Lines company. Headquartered in Richmond, VA, Hamilton Select distributes E&S products exclusively through wholesale brokers. Our underwriters leverage advanced technology and deep expertise to deliver fast, frictionless service to our trading partners with a clear focus on SME and Lower Middle Market risks. What you will do: Contribute to the growth and profitability of the Management Liability portfolio by underwriting new and renewal business within appetite and authority. Evaluate complex risks and make thoughtful, disciplined underwriting decisions aligned with our growth and return objectives. Drive new business opportunities through proactive broker engagement and market development. Negotiate terms and structure solutions consistent with our coverage-focused underwriting approach. Build and strengthen meaningful broker relationships to increase submission flow and conversion. Monitor portfolio performance and identify actions to improve results (rate, mix, retention). Support team development through knowledge sharing and mentorship. Contribute to strategic initiatives that support the continued expansion of the platform. What we’re looking for in the role: Experienced underwriter with authority, ideally within E&S lines. Strong technical expertise in Management Liability. Entrepreneurial mindset with a demonstrated ability to grow business and generate opportunities. Track record of developing broker relationships and driving production. Proactive, self-motivated, and results-oriented, with a strong sense of accountability. Strong analytical, decision-making, and communication skills. Customer-focused with a commitment to responsiveness and solution-oriented service. Bachelor’s degree preferred; RPLU or other designations a plus. Willingness to travel in support of business development efforts.
