Solar Project Engineer II

Description:

  • Support engineering and quality control efforts during construction and commissioning of solar and battery energy storage system projects.
  • Review construction drawings, PVsyst reports, equipment submittals, and commissioning documents to verify compliance with Pivot’s Technical Specifications, contractual requirements, and regulatory codes.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, subcontractors, suppliers, Owner’s Engineers, and Independent Engineers to resolve technical issues and keep project activities on schedule (design, procurement, construction, commissioning).
  • Develop and assist in implementing project quality control standards, processes, and tools for engineering, construction, and commissioning of BESS.
  • Respond to contractor Requests for Information (RFIs) promptly and professionally.
  • Conduct on-site and remote inspections of active construction sites and operational assets to verify compliance with project specifications, safety regulations, and quality standards.
  • Identify lessons learned and value-engineering opportunities from construction projects.
  • Support project diligence activities and assist Operations & Maintenance with production data review and troubleshooting as needed.

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of experience in community-scale solar PV and energy storage engineering, construction, and commissioning.
  • Extensive knowledge of battery energy storage system design and commissioning and applicable codes including the National Electric Code and International Fire Code.
  • Working knowledge of AC and DC electrical design, utility distribution requirements, equipment, and design.
  • Working knowledge of PVsyst and system performance analysis.
  • Familiarity with solar and electrical commissioning and testing standards and techniques, especially the International Electrical Testing Association’s Standard for Acceptance Testing Specifications.
  • Strong working knowledge of spreadsheets and word processing programs and ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple projects.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Preferred: four-year engineering degree from an ABET-accredited university (electrical, mechanical, or energy focus); E.I.T. certification; NABCEP PV certifications (PV Installation Professional, PV System Inspector, or PV Commissioning & Maintenance Specialist).
  • Preferred: experience with energy storage construction means and methods, reviewing EPC contracts for deliverables/technical requirements, and working knowledge of Procore and Smartsheet.

  • Estimated base salary range $100,000–$120,000 per year.
  • Eligibility for a substantial bonus plan with a target bonus of 30% of annual salary (prorated in the first year).
