Job Description

Andela is seeking a meticulous and highly organized Remote Payroll and Invoicing Specialist to join our dynamic global finance team. This fully remote role is perfect for a detail-oriented professional based in Kigali, Rwanda, who thrives in a fast-paced global environment. As a key member of our operations, you will be instrumental in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll for our diverse workforce and managing our invoicing processes with precision. You will leverage your expertise in payroll systems, financial software, and compliance regulations to maintain seamless financial operations across multiple jurisdictions. Key Responsibilities

  • Process multi-country payroll accurately and on schedule, including salaries, bonuses, and deductions, for a diverse remote workforce.
  • Generate and distribute client invoices, ensuring accuracy, timely delivery, and adherence to contractual terms and service agreements.
  • Reconcile payroll data, general ledger accounts, and invoicing records, proactively identifying and resolving discrepancies promptly.
  • Maintain comprehensive payroll and invoicing records, ensuring strict compliance with internal policies and external regulations (e.g., tax laws, labor laws in various jurisdictions).
  • Collaborate closely with the HR department to ensure accurate employee data, new hires, terminations, and changes are reflected correctly in payroll systems.
  • Respond to employee and client inquiries regarding payroll and invoices in a professional, empathetic, and timely manner, providing clear explanations.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close activities related to payroll costs, accruals, and accounts receivable reconciliation.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to the implementation of new systems or workflows to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of financial operations.
  • Prepare detailed financial reports related to payroll costs and invoicing metrics for management review, offering insights and analysis.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience (minimum 3 years) as a Payroll Specialist, Invoicing Specialist, or similar financial role in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong understanding of payroll processes, tax regulations, and generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in financial software (e.g., Oracle NetSuite, QuickBooks, SAP) and advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, data analysis).
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, with a keen eye for discrepancies.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities, capable of managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
  • Ability to handle confidential financial and personal information with the utmost discretion and integrity.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, suitable for a global team.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a remote, distributed team, demonstrating self-motivation and initiative.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience with multi-country or international payroll processing, understanding complexities of different tax regimes.
  • Familiarity with HRIS (Human Resources Information Systems) for seamless payroll integration.
  • Knowledge of Rwandan tax and labor laws related to payroll and employment.
  • Certification in Payroll (e.g., Certified Payroll Professional - CPP) or a related accounting certification (e.g., CPA, ACCA).
  • Experience working in a fast-paced tech or startup environment with rapid growth.
