Application Security Engineer - Fully Remote - Must Work HST Hours

Overview

TEKsystems is seeking an experienced Application Security Engineer to support the development and maturation of an enterprise Application Security program. This role requires a blend of strategic vision and hands-on technical expertise, with a strong focus on securing enterprise applications across both on-prem and cloud environments. This individual will play a critical role in shaping application security strategy, implementing security tools, and ensuring secure-by-design practices across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development and advancement of the organization’s Application Security program
• Define and implement application security standards, policies, and best practices to support secure development
• Assess the current state of application security and develop a roadmap to mature the program
• Work with both on-prem and SaaS-based enterprise applications to identify and mitigate security risks
• Architect and implement security solutions and tools, supporting full lifecycle deployment until transition to operational teams
• Partner with engineering, infrastructure, and security teams to ensure secure integration between applications and systems
• Establish guardrails and controls to ensure new and existing applications are secure as they scale
• Conduct application security reviews, risk assessments, and compliance evaluations
• Develop and present security recommendations, strategies, and reports to leadership and executive stakeholders
• Translate complex technical risks into clear business impact for non-technical audiences
• Support audit readiness and maintain alignment with regulatory and cybersecurity frameworks

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in IT or cybersecurity, including architect or lead-level responsibility
• Strong experience developing or managing Application Security programs in enterprise environments
• Deep understanding of modern application security threats, vulnerabilities, and mitigation techniques
• Architect-level knowledge of enterprise application ecosystems and integrations
• Experience securing both internally hosted applications and SaaS platforms (Salesforce, ServiceNow, Archer, etc.)
• Strong understanding of cybersecurity frameworks and regulatory requirements (NIST, PCI-DSS, FFIEC, HIPAA, etc.)
• Ability to operate independently and drive strategy in a highly visible role

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills

• Experience implementing application security tools (SAST, DAST, SCA)
• Experience working in regulated environments (financial services, healthcare, etc.)
• Strong understanding of API security, identity/access integration, and application architecture
• Experience presenting to and influencing executive leadership

Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Honolulu, HI. Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $70.00/hr.
