Remote Medical Biller
Title: Follow-Up / Medical Billing Specialist – Remote (Roseville)
- Schedule: Day Shift, Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
- Location: Remote (assigned to Roseville)
- Setting: Remote Follow-Up / Revenue Cycle
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of Follow-Up experience
- Experience with Medicare or Managed Medicare required
- Medical billing and collections experience required (must-have)
- EPIC experience required
- Portal knowledge required
- Basic denial management experience preferred
- Professional claims experience preferred
Responsibilities
- Conduct follow-up activities on unpaid or delayed insurance claims and patient accounts to facilitate prompt resolution
- Review medical records and documentation to ensure accurate coding using CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) classifications
- Verify proper application of medical billing codes, including ICD coding and CPT coding, to maximize reimbursement
- Communicate professionally with insurance companies, patients, and healthcare providers regarding outstanding balances or claim issues
- Maintain detailed records of collection efforts and claim statuses within EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and EHR systems
- Collaborate with medical office staff to ensure compliance with billing policies and accurate documentation
- Identify discrepancies or errors in medical records or billing submissions and initiate corrective actions
- Stay updated on changes in medical coding standards, insurance policies, and healthcare regulations
- Support the preparation of reports related to collection activities, aging accounts, and revenue cycle performance
- Assist in training new team members on billing procedures and system usage
