[Remote] Software Engineer Intern - Summer 2026

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Synchrony Bank is offering a software engineer internship for summer 2026, allowing students to gain practical experience while pursuing their degree. Interns will learn to code, test, and document software changes, work within an agile team, and contribute to enterprise-level solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Research and help in identifying solutions for complex technical challenges
  • Develop solutions using cutting edge technologies and frameworks
  • Work on Proof-of-Concepts to support challenging technical issues
  • Document and demonstrate solutions by developing flowcharts, layouts, diagrams etc
  • Support integration and system level testing
  • Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned

Skills

  • Currently pursuing Bachelor's level degree in Computer Science
  • Strong Computer Science fundamentals in OOAD, design patterns, data structures, and algorithms
  • Good understanding of Spring, JEE technologies, REST API and UI technologies and frameworks
  • Awareness of JavaScript front-end frameworks like Angular and React
  • Awareness of microservice architectural patterns and design
  • Exposure to agile methodologies
  • You must be 18 years or older
  • You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process
  • You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required
  • Strong desire to learn
  • Critical thinking and creativity
  • Good problem-solving skills from a data, software, and technical standpoint
  • Good research, writing and communication skills
  • Be able to work well in a team environment

Education Requirements

  • Currently pursuing Bachelor’s level degree in Computer Science.
  • You must have a high school diploma or equivalent
