Mechanical Technologist (Junior)

Associated Engineering is focused on providing engineering services in HVAC and Buildings Systems. The Mechanical Technologist will work with engineers and other technologists to deliver design, drafting, modeling, and construction inspection services for various public and private sector clients.

Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed drafting under the mentorship of the Lead Design Engineer/Technologist or PM
  • Perform general design activities independently and under the mentorship of a Lead Design Engineer/Technologist or PM
  • Act as resource and technical drawing coordinator when required (CAD/BIM Lead)
  • Contribute to the team’s technical knowledge resources
  • Support BIM Management activities
  • Ensure BIM Standards, Quality Assurance and Quality Control procedures are followed during drawing planning and production

Skills

  • A Diploma or Certificate in Engineering Design & Drafting, Building Environmental Systems Technology or equivalent from an accredited post-secondary institution
  • Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office
  • Technical skills in the design of HVAC and building plumbing
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong mathematical skills and attention to detail
  • Committed team player
  • Eligible for registration with ASTTBC is an asset
  • Knowledge of the BC and National Building Codes, National Plumbing Code, ASHRAE standards, and NFPA is an asset
  • Familiar with data processing and spreadsheets
  • Proficient in using HAP or similar building simulation software
  • Experience in construction inspection is an asset
